Anonymous asks: what does PTA stand for? and how do you become one? Are you deciding on PTA or RN? sorry to ask so many questions I am just curious because I always hear about RN but not PTA and it would be good to see all my options before deciding.

PTA is physical therapy assistant. You go to school for two years, in Concord University, it’s 20 months. You basically do the same thing a Physical Therapist does but without all the crazy paperwork. The only negative thing that I did find about this career is that, if you do decide to move forward to becoming a PT, you would have to start over because the classes you took when you were doing PTA won’t be transferred. They’re simply non-transferable.

RN, on the other hand, if you have an associates degree, or plan to start with just with AS, you CAN transfer the classes you took to become a BSN.

I’m leaning towards RN, to be honest, it seems more practical, but if I was guaranteed a job for PTA, then I’d do PTA. I just don’t know what the demand for PTA’s will be once I graduate.

Sorry for the long answer. ^__^
